Family Time!

This last weekend was a blast. We celebrated Dad's/Mike's/DIL's birthday, stylishly, here in sunny Florida!

We checked out The Kennedy Space Center, Myakka River State Park, The Dali Museum (St Pete), and The Sarasota Wine Festival. We also made coffee, made some extra tasty food, played fun games (SkipBo and Carcassone) and enjoyed the company of Heyford, Meleta and Nala!

Here are a couple pictures of our adventurous times!

Making Apple Crisp from apples purchased
at a fruit stand next to Andy's office
(Notice the cool apple peeler in the in front of Joanne)

Eating dinner in Siesta Key (South Sarasota) at a tasty restaurant
(I don't remember the name...)

Home made Key Lime Pie! (Eat your heart out Rob!)

Many do not know that Key Lime pie actually originated
in Florida.
If you want to make an authentic one you have to use Key
Limes (Citrus aurantifolia) rather than the Persian limes
you will find at most grocery stores (I'm sure Rob already
knew this, being the Key Lime pie connoisseur he is!)

This was from awhile ago but I have to mention it. Joanne
made home made french bread. This was the tastiest
french bread I have ever eaten in my whole life!! PROPS!
Look how golden and perfect it looks.. mmm mmm

For more fun pictures keep tabs on our Flickr page

We try and update it as often as possible

Much love - Joandy

It looks like you guys had a ton of fun and good food with your parents. That is my way to vacation. I'm just sad we can't be there with Jeanne and Chris and the two of you.
I have to mention that I am very impressed by the homemade french bread. I've never tried making it before, but now I feel like I need your recipe because it looks so good! We always get those half baked ones from the grocery store and cheat a little bit.
BTW - Jeanne made me pose for pictures so that you could see me pregnant. I'm getting used to the fact that it's only going to get worse, so you may see a few on our blog soon too.

Myakka - Thweet! I have good memories of that vulture-infested swamp. Seriously, I really do. It was a primeval setting, without having to go all the way down to the Everglades.

Andy key lime pie: double sweet! I fully admit that my recipe isn't the greatest, but I guess no one ever makes key lime pie so they always default to mine (I found the recipe online like 8 years ago, it really isn't "my" recipe) -Rob
